Sketchbook Assignment; Distill an article or passage from a book into a primary and secondary visual concept

"How sad, this is what your life has been reduced to: a single room apartment containing no more than a mattress. How sad but the strings have been removed from the blinds and all the outlets have been painted over. and the television screen is streaked with blood and smeared from your knuckles as you were trying to punch it out but you underestimated your strength, or maybe you just weren't trying hard enough. Startled by a knock at the door you rise for the first time in two days to answer, but you can only greet the visitor with one short statement.
Hello my first name is distance and I really don't care if I never wake up again. Hello my name is distance and I really don't care if I never wake up again. And I really don't care if I never wake up again. And I really don't care if I never wake up again."

Now, I am not going to say I cheated when doing this, cause cheating is a stupid word, but i did bend the rules slightly, and instead of using a passage from a book, I took a passage from a song, which in turn isn't really a song at all, but more so a monologue that just happens to be written by a band.
I believe I nailed this one one hundred percent, the shading works, the concept of the piece gets across, and compositionally it works. I am very satisfied with this sketch.
